Q: What HnH stands for?

A: HnH is short for “Heaven And Hell”. The page was born in 1996 with this name, since it was made by Dominatrix and other guy, Mac Inc. Mac was the heavenly and programming part, and Dominatrix... well, guess for yourself. The KiSS part first appeared in 1997: since it was a spin-off of Heaven & Hell page, presented as a newspaper, so it took that name. Passing time did the rest. Nobody remembers now the original page,even it's still here if you want to have a look.

Q: What is KiSS?

KiSS stands for Kisekae Set System, it's a popular game that came from Japan. Kisekae is Japanese for “dressing up game”. They're a collection of standards, programs and codes that allow you to create electronic dress up dolls. Q: Where I can get a KiSS Viewer for my OS?

There's KiSS viewers for Windows, DOS, Mac OS, Acorn, Amiga, UNIX and other systems... All of them are available on the Big KiSS Page for free. I've even heard there's a Kisekae System for the PSOne, but I've never seen it... You should know KiSS sets aren't stand-alone files, they need a viewer for your OS. They're presented in LHARC compressed format (LZH), but you don't need to de-compress anything: viewer will do it for you.

Q: What kind of software do you use for KiSS?

Good question. I'm very old-fashioned for graphics software, this is one of the reasons for the “retro” look on my sets. I use Electronic Arts De Luxe Paint II Enhanced DOS version for drawing the dolls and the clothing items. I learned mouse-drawing with this program, and even I've tried a ton of software, no one was as versatile for 16-colour images like this one: its indexed colour-palette managing it's simply superb. For cropping, retouching and colouring, I use PhotoShop, and sometimes Irfanview32 for auxiliary cropping/viewing/conversion functions. The CEL conversion is achieved thru WCEL for Windows, and I write CNF manually with Jan Govaert's Editpad or plain Windows' Notepad. I use WkiSS 0.68 for KiSS positioning, and PlayFKiSS 0.83 for FkiSS testing and other KiSS functions. When done, sets are compressed with LHARC 2.13 for DOS.

Q: Why don't you make anime-style KiSS?

Well, I like Manga, Anime and Hentai a lot. I've done some sets of this kind. But there's a lot of wonderful artists making these sets, with astonishing results. Since I'm a “gaijin”, I better understand the motivations of Western comics, old pin-ups and the like, they're closer to me. I feel more confortable working with these things, that's all. I respect a lot Japanese-styled sets, but I prefer to do my own stuff for a wider range of subjects and choices.

Q: If I propose a doll, will you make it for me?

As a general rule, I must say no, since there's a lot of work involved on a KiSS set. But if you propose something interesting enough, and provide some source samples, I can study it. No compromises in any case, I'm sorry. Making a good doll is a difficult and crafty art.

Q: Why your English is so bad?

Because I was born in Barcelona, Spain, and English isn't my mother language, I learned it on high-school. I'm one of the few KiSS Spanish artists around. Hope you like my dolls more than my writings!

Q: Provided your dolls are free, can I post them on my own site?

The answer is no, I'm sorry. KiSS has certain restrictions to its distribution, even it's free. As a general rule, respect artist's will on a given set distribution, use it only on a private way, and you'll be on the safe side. Posting a doll anywhere without prior permission from the original artist is a shameful lack of netiquette, the artist has certain rights over his or her creation you must respect.

Q: Why don't you update the page on a regular basis?

I did on the past, on a monthly basis, but it ended on a unbearable pressure I couldn't stand no more. As anyone of you, I have a life, a job and a family, and not much spare time. Above all, KiSS must be fun. If it ain't fun, but more of a load, it losts its unique magic. This is the rule I stick to. Few but good dolls is much better than bad dolls or no dolls at all.

Q: I have problems downloading the dolls, can you e-mail them for me?

Well, I know we had plenty of problems with previous HhH hosting at Terra Lycos. That's why I had moved to this new server and domain. If you're polite enough, and explain which troubles are you experimenting (this always helps to improve), we can give it a try. Some e-mail servers are not very attach-friendly, so every case will ask for a careful planning and solution.
